ND Men’s Lacrosse Invades Indy! NCAA Quarterfinals Trip Day 1

May 17, 2013, 9:09 PM EDT

The police overtook us about 10 miles outside of Indianapolis.  Four cars approached our bus and the sirens came on. No, we were not being arrested. It was our police escort, coming to guide us to the hotel that will be our home for the next 3 days.

Notre Dame Men’s Lacrosse left for Indianapolis a little after 1:30 pm, right after practice. As they loaded up the bus, one could see cap and gowns mixed in with the suits and ties, as our seniors prepared to miss another Commencement to play in the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Tournament.  Tomorrow we will hold a special graduation ceremony for them, at the NCAA Hall of Champions, before we leave for practice at Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts.  With a packed bus, we took off for the 2-½ hour drive to Indy.

As the police escort overtook us, the rain began to fall. We usource: nloaded to slight sprinkling, dropped off our bags, and then headed to St. Elmo’s Steakhouse for team dinner. Not only is St. Elmo’s known for their steak, but their shrimp cocktail sauce is legendary for its spiciness.  Our mouths are still hurting.

After dinner it was off to film review, snack, and then bed.  Tomorrow is a big day, graduation, and our first trip to Lucas Oil Stadium.  Follow the trip on Instagram (ndlacrosse), Twitter @NDLacrosse, and check out our NCAA Tourney Trax list on Spotify.

Go Irish!
